Coach Credentialing

The IASF Credentialing Program examines, tests and certifies the knowledge, expertise and proficiency that a cheer coach possesses to safely teach building and/or tumbling skills in Levels 1-5.

Aussie Gold will be conducting IASF Education & Credentialing on the following dates:

13-Apr-2018  Townsville 6-May-2018    Melbourne 2-Jun-2018  Sydney 3-Aug-2018  Newcastle 29-Sep-2018 Brisbane
14-Apr-2018  Brisbane 12-May-2018  Adelaide 3-Jun-2018  Wollongong 4-Aug-2018 Sydney
15-Apr-2018  Newcastle 27-May-2018  Canberra   17-Aug-2018 Brisbane

What's involved?
All coaches will begin at Level 1 and continue through the highest level for which they would like to qualify.

The initial phase of credentialing includes:

  • Online “Heads UP: Concussion in Youth Sports” Training Course (Free):  Coaches are required to present a copy of their completed Concussion Course Certificate at their Hands-on Assessment.  Click here to access the course: http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/
  • Education workshop:  All coaches aiming to gain certification are required to attend a compulsory 90 minute education workshop for each level prior to being assessed.
  • Hands-on Assessment:  Following the workshop, an assessment time will be provided based on order of registration received.  We therefore recommend sending your registration in ASAP to avoid lengthy delays waiting for your assessment time.
  • Online (written) test:  Applicable links will be sent to you following successful
    completion of the hands-on test.

Coaches who are re-credentialing (prior to current credentials expiration date) at the same level are not required to attend the education workshop, however are welcome to attend if they would like to brush up on their skills.  Assessment times will be provided upon registration.

Practical Field Experience Form
To be credentialed at Level 3 or higher, coaches must document and verify Practical Field Experience coaching at the levels that precede the one for which they are being tested.

  • To be tested at Level 3, coaches must document and verify that they have spent a minimum of 100 hours coaching at Levels 1 and 2.
  • To be tested at Level 4, coaches must document and verify that they have spent a minimum of 75 hours coaching at Level 3.
  • To be tested at Level 5, coaches must be able to document and verify that they have
spent a minimum of 75 hours coaching at level 4.

NOTE: Hours spent in the field coaching are cumulative. In essence, they are “in addition to” the hours required at the previous level. For example, for a coach to be eligible to test for level 5 they must have spent at minimum 250 hours coaching at levels 1 through 4 (distributed as listed above).

Maintaining Valid Credentials:

  • Credentials are valid for three years and will expire on February 28 at the end of the three year term.
  • If a coach does not renew their Credentials by May 28 of a new term, their credentials will expire and the coach must restart the credentialing process from the beginning.
  • Coaches who initially credential at Levels 1-4 may test to the next level at any time during the three-year period during which their credentials are valid. Expiration dates will extend an additional three years as each level is successfully completed.
  • It is the responsibility of a coach to stay current with credentials. Know your expiration date and plan accordingly. It is always best to plan on attending a re-credential prior to your credentials expiring.
